6 - 7
A bright suny but brezy day when I visited the Druids Temple which is situated near Ilton around 4 miles west of Mashamin North Yorkshire, UK. The Temple is a folly created by William Danby of nearby Swinton Hall in 1820. The structure sits deep within a private forest and includes a large stone table, a sheltered cave and an altar stone. The temple is approximately 100 feet long and 50 feet wide, with some of the stones standing over 10 feet high.. Shot using my DJI Phantom 3 Advanced quadcopter on the 5th May 2016.
A short clip of the pier at Saltburn-by-the-Sea shot one grey morning whilst the tide was so low that you could actually walk around the end of it. Such a shame that the pier is no longer twice the length as it was originally. Shot using my DJI Phantom 3 Advanced quadcopter on the 7th April 2016.
Cauldron Snout Waterfall
Another beautiful sunny and calm spring day so headed up to Teesdale to film Cauldron Snout Waterfall and Cow Green Reservoir. I haven't visited here for well over 30 years but from what I could see there was no change from what I remember of it! Shot using my DJI Phantom 3 Advanced quadcopter on the 31st March 2016.
The Headland, Hartlepool
A short video clip of the Headland at Hartlepool. I had waited weeks for a suitable low tide and sunshine to capture these few minutes of video featuring the Yeugh breakwater and showing construction of the new sea wall defences. Shot using my DJI Phantom 3 Advanced quadcopter on the 22nd March 2016.
Tees Transporter Bridge
Shot using my DJI Phantom 3 Advanced quadcopter on the 23rd February 2016, the Tees Transporter Bridge has been the area's landmark since opening in 1911. It is the longest working transporter bridge in the world and an iconic symbol of Tees-side's engineering and industrial heritage.
Coatham & Redcar Rocks
A short video of Coatham & Redcar Rocks shot at low tide on 25th February 2016 using my DJI Phantom 3 Advanced quadcopter drone.
One of the best exposures of Lower Lias rock on the Yorkshire Coast composed of calcareous shales containing fossil Ammonites and Gryphea. Designated a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) and when exposed at low tide an important feeding ground for several species of wading birds.
St. Andrews Church, Upleatham
A short video clip of the incredibly tiny St. Andrews Church at Upleatham in the United Kingdom. Shot on the 12th February 2016 using my DJI Phantom 3 Advanced quadcopter drone.
RSPB Saltholme Reedbed Cutting
Following on from the initial reedbed survey I did for RSPB Saltholme back at the end of 2015, I was asked to return and video the planned cutting of the reeds using a Truxor vehicle from Aquatic-Solutions UK. Despite a constant 20mph wind gusting up to 34mph on the 4th February 2016, I managed to capture this short compilation using my DJI Phantom 3 Advanced quadcopter drone.
Captain Cook's Monument
A short clip of Captain Cook's Monument on the North Yorkshire Moors near Great Ayton. Shot during a very cold and foggy afternoon on the 19th of January 2016 using my DJI Phantom 3 Advanced quadcopter drone. The fog was rising and falling, sometimes completely obscuring the monument and the peak of Roseberry Topping in the distance but a few short spells of clear sky with nice sunshine allowed me to capture this video and a few shots which can be seen above.
Whilst conducting an aerial reedbed survey of my local RSPB reserve, the results of which can be seen in the images above, I shot a short video sequence. Though the weather was good for doing the survey it was hardly ideal for video footage due to low cloud and poor visibility. Hopefully I will have a chance to make a better video in the future when the sun is shining! Shot on the 14th of December 2015 using my DJI Phantom 3 Advanced quadcopter drone.
Rosedale mines, abandoned cottages and kilns on the North Yorkshire Moors where Ironstone was baked or 'calcined' to remove impurities before being transferred on the now disused railway line to Tees-side. Shot on the 26th of November 2015 using my DJI Phantom 3 Advanced quadcopter drone.
Highcliff Nab near Guisborough on the North Yorkshire Moors on an extremely cold, grey and foggy 3rd of November 2015. Shot using my DJI Phantom 3 Advanced quadcopter drone.
These Sandstone rocks known locally as 'The Wainstones' are discovered whilst walking along the Cleveland Way on the North Yorkshire Moors. Shot on the 9th of October 2015 using my DJI Phantom 3 Advanced quadcopter drone.
Iron Age Hut Site
This Iron Age hut site on the North Yorkshire Moors has been dated between 200 and 400 A.D. from pottery discovered in the area. Shot on the 4th of October 2015 using my DJI Phantom 3 advanced quadcopter drone.
A quick video put together on a very grey and dull evening just up the path from Gribdale Gate on the North Yorkshire Moors. Shot on the 3rd of October 2015 using my DJI Phantom 3 quadcopter drone.
A flight around Roseberry Topping and The Shooting Box on the North Yorkshire Moors. Shot on the 1st of October 2015 using my DJI Phantom 3 Advanced quadcopter drone.
Sunset over Tees-side
Tees-side from the air at sunset. Great views over the River Tees, The Tees Barrage and Tees-side Retail Park with Stockton, Middlesbrough and the North Yorkshire Moors in the distance. Shot from around 400ft using my DJI Phantom 3 Advanced quadcopter drone on the 30th August 2015.
